Heather Macfarlane is currently serving as Vice President in 2026 and previously served on the Fundraising Committee in 2024 & 2025.
Heather comes from a family full of artists and has always found joy with various mediums and art forms. As a child, she tried to mimic her father's footsteps, spending her spare time pretending to work for Disney, drawing and painting characters. Or she would be fantasizing about working for Mattel or Jim Henson miniature doll size furniture and clothing or creating puppets and dioramas. When she wasn't indoors creating art, she could be found lounging in her favorite tree or collecting her nature "treasures" or dancing barefoot to 80's music.
During her teen years, tragedy struck and she found solace in drawing, mainly pen & ink artwork, graphite portrait drawings, creative writing and her love of theater arts. In her senior year of high school, she learned seed bead and wire jewelry making.
Throughout her adult years, while raising her children, Heather explored different art forms; sewing, crocheting, doll making, silk painting, acrylic painting, paper mache crafts, jewelry making, and mixed media art journaling.
When serious health challenges arose, she turned to creative outlets and her passion for nature to help manage the most difficult time of her life.
In 2022, a simple Christmas gift from her husband, a resin kit, mixed with her love for nature resulted in the creation of Indigo Prairie Designs in February 2023. The Botanical and Nature Inspired Jewelry soon expanded to include Botanical Artwork in 2025.
Heather is a passionate cat lady and she celebrated 30 years of marriage to her husband, Ian and is mother of two adult children, son Ian, a former EMT/Firefighter and current student at University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and daughter Moira, a student at Flathead Community College studying costume design in the theater department.
Heather understands the importance and power that creativity can contribute for the overall health of an individual and she knows firsthand how vital a supportive team is during the journey. As a new board member, she is committed to uplifting others along their creative journey and assisting in their success in any way she can.
